Triple Assessment Clinic

What is the triple Assessment Clinic?

This service which commenced in 2005  which offers women a clinical assessment, radiological examination and if necessary tissue sampling during a single visit.

When is the clinic held?

The Clinic is held on Monday mornings.

Who will I meet?

On arrival to the hospital please check in at the x-ray department.  You will be met by one of our administration team who will direct you to the radiographer who will perform your mammogram.  Your mammogram will be reviewed by our Breast Consultant Radiologist who will perform an ultrasound of your breast.   If you require any intervention such as a biopsy or aspiration of cyst it will be carried out during this examination. You will then be examined by a Consultant Breast Surgeon and meet the Breast Care Nurse.

How long will I be there?

We would advise you to free up your entire morning.

What is the cost?

Special rates apply for this clinic:

Mammogram:                           €125.00

Ultrasound of Breast:                €125.00

Consultation:                             €200.00

If you proceed to tissue sampling your health insurer will pay the hospital directly so the only cost payable by you is the €200.00 Consultation’s fee.

Do I need to fast?

No

What about my medication?

Take your medications as normal.

When will I get results?

The breast radiologist will review your imaging on the morning and issue a report to the physician in time for your clinical assessment.  If you have tissue sampling, the results of the sample will be available on the Friday morning following your Monday appointment.
